Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is an Adult Day Program?
A: Adult Day Programs offer a safe, positive and caring alternative to nursing home care. They are designed to help older adults stay mentally and physically active, reduce isolation, provide respite to family caregivers and to prevent decline of the participant's abilities.
Q: What services does Triple-R provide?
A: Triple-R specializes in care for people with mild to severe memory loss (dementia). The Triple-R Program has been recognized by the State of California as the Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Center (ADCRC) for Sacramento County. Under this designation, Triple-R provides intensive dementia care training to both staff and family caregivers and maintains a minimum 1 to 5 staff-to-participant ratio to meet dementia care needs. A sampling of daily activities include singing, dancing, socializing with peers, gentle exercise and age appropriate arts and crafts projects. Triple-R staff are also trained to monitor and care for the personal needs of each participant, including assistance with mobility, toileting and nutrition.
Q: Is Triple-R a program of the City of Sacramento?
A: Yes, Triple-R is a program of the City of Sacramento's Parks and Recreation Division. The first program opened in April 1992 at the Hart Senior Center in Midtown Sacramento. Currently, Triple-R has three locations:
- Midtown Center: 915 27th Street, Sacramento CA 95816
- Greenhaven Center: 7375 Park City Drive, Sacramento CA 95831
- North Sacramento Center: 700 Southgate Road, Sacramento CA 95815
Q: Is Triple-R a licensed Adult Day Care facility?
A: Yes, all three sites are licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Program. In 1999, Triple-R became the Adult Day Care Resource Center (ADCRC) for Sacramento County, which evaluates all Triple-R sites annually for performance standards specifically related to dementia care. As a licensed Adult Day Program, Triple-R staff submit to a rigorous background check before they are employed by the program.
Q: Who is eligible to attend Triple-R?
A: There are no formal eligibility requirements to attend Triple-R. The average participant is in his/her 70s and has some memory loss, though the age range for participants varies widely from ages 50-99. Participants and family caregivers tend to seek the services of adult day programs for many reasons. The person with memory loss may be increasingly isolated at home and needs the opportunity to socialize with peers and become active again in a secure environment. The family caregiver may need a break from their caregiving duties or just needs some time to be able to run errands or go to work. Triple-R is a fee-for-service program based on a daily rate, depending on the level of personal care your loved one needs ($62-72/day).
